A/B Testing

A/B Testing (also called Split Testing) in WowOptin is a great way to find out which version of your optin or popup works best at converting visitors. You don’t need to guess or rely on gut feeling. A/B Testing automatically displays different variations of the optin to different visitors.

Once one variant outperforms the other, you can set it as your final optin (or even test a new variation against it) so you’re always running the most effective campaign.

How A/B Testing Works in WowOptin

A/B (Split) Testing in WowOptin is designed to be simple and effective. Here’s how it works:

  • Create two or more versions of the same popup.
  • Define how traffic should be distributed between them (in percentages).
  • Choose the winner selection type – manual or automatic – with the winning criteria.
  • WowOptin then splits the traffic as per your settings, showing different variants to different visitors.
  • As visitors interact with the popups, WowOptin tracks conversions for each version.
  • You’ll get detailed results and can continue running just the winning one.

    • By default, traffic is equally distributed (e.g., 50% for two variants, 33.33% for three).
    • You can also set custom percentages — for example, 50% for Variant 1, 30% for Variant 2, and 20% for Variant 3.

  • Choose the Winner Selection Type:
    • Manual: You have to review the results and pick the winner yourself.
Example: You analyze conversion rates after a few days and choose the best one.
    • Automatic: WowOptin picks the winner based on your selected criteria.
Example: The version with the highest conversion rate after 7 days is chosen automatically.

Note: If you select the automatic option, you must specify the Winner Selection Parameter and the Test Duration in days. However, if you choose the manual option, no further action is required.

Winner Selection Parameters

There are four primary parameters used to determine the winning optin. These include:

  • Conversions – The total number of successful actions taken by visitors, such as CTA button clicks, social follows, coupon copies, or email signups.
  • Conversion Rate – The percentage of impressions that result in conversions, indicating how effectively the optin turns viewers into users.
  • Leads/Form Submissions – The total number of forms submitted or leads collected through the optin.
  • Revenue – The total earnings generated from the optin.

Note: The difference between Leads and Conversions – Leads focus specifically on capturing visitor information, like form submissions or email signups. –> But conversions count all successful actions (e.g., button clicks, coupon copies, or social follows), including form submissions.

WowOptin also tracks Impressions to represent the number of times each variant is displayed to your visitors. While Impressions are not a factor in determining the winner, they provide helpful context for analyzing overall performance.

Once everything looks good, just click on Start Testing , and the selected option will be activated automatically. You don’t need to manually publish them—it’s all done for you! ✅

You can review the detailed results in this section and manually choose a winner based on your interpretation of the statistics.
